Up next, Fall 2019/ Recap, Summer 2019

Hello friends:

You can see the staged-reading of my newest play, THE INFINITE TALES at The Page-to-Stage Festival hosted and produced by the Kennedy Center on August 31st. Full cast to be announced soon. No tickets required, showing is at 4:00 PM in the Terrace Theater. Just stop by!

The play will receive its world premiere with my direction at The Writer's Center in Bethesda, Maryland, produced by my home company, 4615 Theatre on December 6 and runs until the 29th. Not sure about extensions, so tickets will be hard to come-by. Goes on sale in September, so subscribe to the mailing list here.

As a part of the Allen Lee Hughes Fellowship, I'll be the assistant director on several plays in the 70th season at Arena Stage. The first of these assignments is Right to Be Forgotten intelligently created, written by Sharyn Rothstein and given fiery life by the amazing Seema Sueko who directs. This play is CRAZY and you won't want to miss it. It begins October 11th. Get your tickets (which, yes, it is almost sold out) here.

A brief recap of my summer:

After I wrapped Doi Nang Non, I went to Cambodia to connect with the great folks over at Cambodia Living Arts and the University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh. I had a fantastic time seeing the amazing theatre and circus work (OMG that circus at Siem Reap, ya'll!!) and getting to relax a little. After Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, I hopped on a flight to Kuala Lumpur.

In Kuala Lumpur, I got to sit in on rehearsals for the amazing Masakini Theatre Company's newest work, Wayang Mak Yong, a collection of Malaysian folk tales directed by the amazing Sabera Sheikh. The play has since opened and is touring across Malaysia. Check it out here.

Of course, this is supposed to be a vacation -- so I did get to spend four beautiful days in sunny Penang hiking the jungles and eating amazing food. I took a short stop-over to reunite with my family in Sydney, Australia and then headed back to the United States. I had not stepped foot on American soil in nearly eleven months!! While it was nice to be with the family, I was soon back in DC to start casting and producing the 4615 season.

Good to be back, more to come!

Greg
